I used to be on here a couple of years ago…have just been through a busy time and thus had very little time to spare for either vege gardening or foruming, but am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things! This was a great forum when I used to be on here, hope a lot of the regulars are still here.
My name is Linda, I live in Toowoomba in QLD, where we have just enjoyed the lovely Carnival of Flowers and thus I am very inspired to get cracking in the garden! I have a wonderful hubby and 11-year-old twin boys, and am currently finishing off a Naturopathy qualification. Earlier this year I finished a Remedial Massage qualification also (both quals have taken nearly 6 years) and I have a mini-clinic set up from home that I hope to be working from part-time (leaving enough time to garden is a priority!)
I used to have a great vege patch when we were living on 5 acres out of town a few years ago (and having a bore helped with water shortage at the time). We moved onto 1 acre in town 18 months ago, and up until now I have had 2 semi-permanent vegetable patches and a few herbs in pots to keep me happy…at the moment I have snow peas, sugar snap peas, broad beans and calendula going in one garden, and the other had strawberry runners which we have just relocated to another garden yesterday (bad timing I know, but hopefully the crop will cope). At the moment we are in the process of setting up four 5m x 0.9m raised vege beds, which should give me 16m2 of growing room – we are going to use concrete sleepers as the edging, I can’t wait to actually have a ‘proper’ vege patch, and do a four-bed rotation system! We also have another section of yard abutting a tall retaining wall that we eventually want to turn into more vegetable growing area, and install wicking beds, but one thing at a time. 🙂
Looking forward to seeing how everyone else is going with their projects 🙂
