The ladies rewarded me today with my first egg. Weighs in at a mighty 48 grams. I really think building them their run (which is pretty big anyway) rather than having the entire backyard made the difference. I think they were getting spooked in the big old back yard. They still get an occasional back yard roam, but otherwise they have their palace and whole garden run to themselves. Funny when you do the figures. 20 kg of food, one 48 gram egg LOL 🙂
Well, looking forward to more eggs. Thankyou to all who put up with my questions and offered advice. 😀
YAY!!! Congratulations! Where’s the picture? 😆
Funny you should ask, I did take one :geek:
I haven’t put it onto the computer yet. Will do though. Very happy.
Yay, I can stop holding my breath!
BTW, chooks don’t do maths :geek:
Am excited for you 🙂 🙂 🙂 … Am sure by now you’ve got heaps more eggies too …
So what was the first egg used for? Frying, poaching? Leaving it sit for a week or two so that you can boil it or use it in an omellette?
Am highly jealous of you having your first fresh egg 🙂
Woohoo! Isn’t it exciting.
I’m waiting for our first egg – our three girls have settled in beautifully… but not laying yet.
Yay Russell…

Nah… I reckon the girls were just holding out on ya, they knew how bad you wanted an egg! 😉
Hi Russell :metal:
Welcome to the world of Chookdom 😀
One of lifes great momemnts…your first egg.
Of course you realize that you will never buy eggs again and will always complain to your friends about how bland their shop bought eggs are
Ah… so exciting, the first egg… I remember it well.. heartfelt congratulations! 😀
How eggciting…you must be eggstatic…what boost to your eggo:shy:
sorry:lol: Well done
I’m so eggcited for you!! Bring on the pic….. can’t wait for my first egg we’ll all be fighting over it.
I remember our first egg… DH couldn’t believe they actually laid eggs. (He was a townie) He must have thought the chooks we got were for decoration :shy:.
[img]Thanks to all the well wishes. Alas, no more eggs today, but I am sure there will be more.
For those who are interested, I dry fryed it in a non stick pan with no oil so I could taste only the egg. It was beautiful. 😀 🙂
I have tried to attach the photo of my first egg but it doesn’t show up. It is only 34 kb which is much less than the maximum and it is a jpeg. Any tips??
Only one word? no gaps? eg, ‘myegg rather than ‘my egg’
