Found this on BYP. As the message says, there are other programmes that are part of this initiative, so if chooks are not your style, then other courses may be interesting.
Increase your skills and knowledge in being able to keep happy, healthy chooks in your backyard with Jill Cockram, an expert in chook keeping and organic gardening.
This is a Sustainable Illawarra activity and is open to residents of Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama Council areas only.

I live in that area and am a participant in the Sustainable Illawarra program. There are heaps of really good courses, workshops, events, etc happening around here at the moment.
For anyone interested, I try to keep an updated calendar of all the events I hear about. Check out the list in the left-hand column of my site
And let me know if you hear of more!
Will do. I think it is great when a local community does this sort of thing. Mine is working its way up to it with some fimby ladies coming later this month to tell us all how to grow veges. Fimby, btw is ‘food in my back yard’.
I will be going along as a show of support as i think even if you have a fair idea how to go about it and are committed to the process, high attendance keeps up the interest in the sponsoring body.
