Busylizzie – if you ‘edit’ the post there’s an option to delete it.
Oh yes – Spring cleaning would be a great idea wouldn’t it. I also need motivation 😉August 5, 2009 at 10:06 am #385445busylizzieParticipant

Cleaned out the pantry the other day and the freezer on the fridge. I think I’ve nearly convinced DS (4) to let us give some of his toddler toys to my cousin who has just had a baby and doesn’t have much stuff. I’m running out of room in his room for stuff he actually plays with. I on the other hand have 5 older nephews and get given bucketloads of toys and clothes for him. Kids clothes are sorted each season when I pull out the warm/cool clothes I sort out those that don’t fit anymore and give them to friends.
I need to clean out the linen closet it is overflowing and I don’t know why must be the stuff that isn’t being used anymore.
I have started spring cleaning my lab at work, it is much better. I also put aside 1/2 day to catch up on the intray and paperwork there so that is back under control now I just need to do the same at home.
I think it is about time to clean out the filing cabinet as it is stuffed full, now long do we need to keep tax returns again and why do I have instruction manuals for a TV that I threw out 5 years ago broken.December 16, 2009 at 12:57 am #3854491626Member
Please a polite request from someone who volunteers in an op shop
could you please mark sheets as double, queen or king and put each set together
a lot of volunteers are older retired people who do not know all the latest toys, if it has bits put each toy in some sort of container. we often have to sort through a box of toys all mixed up together and we aren’t always sure we’ve got the right bits together.
and sometimes we feel like the panel on “Collectors” trying to work out what things are or do
a big thank you to everyone who donates clean usable items, with the occasional labelDecember 16, 2009 at 4:53 am #385450WazzaMember
Any one else got a bit of a decluttering thing going on in their head or in their home?
So far it’s in my head, but early next year I’m going to have to do a radical declutter. I’m putting my 2.5 bedroom unit on the market and will be investing the proceeds in a motorhome in which I will wander this great country until I grow too old and feeble or fall off the perch. Although that sort of money will put me into something a little larger than a VW Kombi, there’s still a lot of decluttering to be done, even though I was never a hoarder to start with. At this stage I’m drawing up lists in my head like ‘must take’, ‘should take’ and ‘could take’. Luckily I’m in touch with others who’ve gone this way before me, on land and on sea, and their advice is proving invaluable.December 27, 2009 at 12:27 am #385451Gothic Mumma 4 LifeMember
I NEED to do this for so many reasons but insted of a skip bin use our trailer for op shops or tip (if unusable for some reason 😆 )
I want DH to go away so i can get rid of countless crap from old things we MIGHT use  we need the room.
I said to DH the other night:
Its not that important if its on boxes out here not being used. He wasnt to happy 😆December 27, 2009 at 1:46 am #385452BronMember
we’ve started, because we’re moving mid feb and seeing as i have helpers, i’m going to use them 😀 i’ve already donated 4 bags of clothing to the op shops and best bit, very little of it cost me anything in the first place cos they were given to us 🙂January 8, 2010 at 2:40 am #385453Lotus BlueMember
We are also decluttering our home, shed, lives of all excess stuff. If it has not been used in 6 months out it goes. We are having a neighbourhood garage sale in the beginning of feb. So far my bedroom, DS room, linen cupboard, lounge room, bathroom, laundry have been decluttered and boy do we feel better. DH has started on the shed it will be interesting what actually gets out of there. This afternoon is allocated to the bookshelves. This is going to be hard as I love my books but I simply have to do it.
What I don’t sell at the garage sale will go to the opshop.
