Cucumbers in pots

I have a very small garden enclosed with a brick wall. I am trying to grow a few things in pots. Have some herbs but would love a few more substantial things. Was wondering about cucumber in pots. Will it work? And can I just put the pot up high and let it hang or does it have to climb? Only asking this because to get maximum sum I could put it up on the brick wall otherwise it will only get sun from about 9am til 2pm. Is this enough?
Oooh sorry lots of questions here. Hope someone can help. Oh and we are renting so I cant just dig up the lawn like I want to:lol:
Should be fine either way – just remember the brick wall will reflect and hold head for your cucumber. Make sure you don’t fry it! That said, I see no problem with it hanging down or with a 9-2pm sun. My cucumbers tend to fry easily so I’d be a little protective.
Good on you for growing in limited space.
Renting should not make a difference. If anything you would leave the soil in a better condition than when you arrived if you compost and care for the soil. 😉
i have seen cucumbers grown in pots – at the bottom of a lattice wall used as a trellis – they did great.
I have grown cucumbers on the ground too – seedling labels muddled up by a little ‘helper’;) – and that worked well too – esp when the rats started to eat everything in garden – i just put cages over the top of the developing cucumbers and they were safe-
give it a go – you should be fine:)
