    I have gas and electric

Gas is outside on a bottle

I prefer gas but gas prices are going to go through the roof in the next few years as Gladstone starts exporting and we have to compete with the Japanese.

    Predictions are upto 300% increase.

Im going to get a rocket stove for boiling a kettle and doing a stir fry.

I was thinking a portable induction cook top from ebay might also be a good low coast alternative for indoors.

I would need to re do my kitchen as the old stove is 540cm and only WH and Chef make them and they dont have induction and to fill in the gap with a cheap benchtop version I still need to redo the bench tops.

Check out the portable inductions on ebay they are about $50 for single.

With precise temp control it would great for slow cooking and controlled pressure cooking and deep frying, possibly even sous vide.

Ouch! That’s not good news for gas!

I think the rocket stove may be a good idea – either that or we’ll use the bbq for stirfry. I’d like a proper stovetop, though and I know convincing George otherwise would be hard. His mum uses portables though in her small kitchen, as she doesn’t use her stovetop very much. She seems happy with it, as she’s remodelled two kitchens and hasn’t put a stove in either.
