Visited my local fruit and veg shop today and they had some potatoes that I haven’t heard of before, they are called Blue Zarr, dark purplish skin and yellowish flesh. Has anyone heard or grown these before and how are they best cooked. I did ask at the fruit and veg shop and they didn’t know and asked if I could let them know so they would know if anyone else asked.
I bought a few with eyes hopefully to grow.
sounds a bit like the royal saphire’s I grew – they were fabby roasted or as oven chips
We have had these before and they are delicious. We have had them steamed with butter and in a stew YUMM…. definently grow them! and some for me too….
Thanks for the info, sounds like they are worth a go, we have an area prepared so they will be planted on the weekend.
Thanks again for the help.
they sound the same as the ones i have, mine are branded “royal blues”. The guy at the garden centre ( an avid veggie grower) said that they were fantastic. Disease resistant and easy to grow.
So fingers crossed – (i have no experience growing potatoes)
We have been buying them in the local vege shop and they are delicious they make the best crunchy home made chips. I know chips are not good for you but as a treat yummmmm.
