I have 10 Black Sapote seeds and would like to hear from anyone who has had success in growing these in SE Qld. Should I raise them in pots and if these shoot how can I tell which is male and which is female or should I just plant out as many as I can and hope for the best?
Plant them in biggish pots, a few seed to each. Thats the easy part, some trees are F some are M and others are both, in which case you only need one tree, and believe me, when they get some maturity you wont keep up eating them.
I grow them northern NSW, but frost free only.
They are a nice tree but grow quite big so leave plenty of room..
They are a persimmon not a sapote
 male/female  nowhere have I read that. My luck I have four males
Dont panic Dianne, most of the more common varieties are m/f so you should be ok….fingers crossed
My ones a male 15 years no fruit just flowers
