I’ve had quite an eventful 24 hours leading up to NYE…
Wednesday night I went to bed early so I could get up early to head out to Woodford Folk Festival to spend the day there and deliver a presentation (as part of a forum of four) in the GreenHouse Tent about Transition Towns.
But I woke up around 11pm with an itch on my head, and in my sleepy state, scratched it.
Turned out to be a paralysis tick.
I got up and asked my husband to get it out for me, but by then I started having a systemic reaction to the bite.
Full body rash, terrible itching, swelling of my hands and lips.
DH is a paramedic, so it was straight off to hospital for me – by the time I got to A&E, I was nauseus and getting quite concerned about the whole situation.
But with some quick action by the good people in A&E and I was ok…
I had to stay in overnight for observation, but was released by 6.30am and off to Woodford, as I had the powerpoint presentation on a memory stick… so by the end of yesterday, I had a hospital tag on my wrist and a Woodford tag – which told the whole story really.
After a night in hospital, and a day at Woodford, we didn’t do much last night, just fell into bed early!
Beware the response to tick bites!
Anyway, just thought I’d share a tale of 24 hours

Some people have all the fun. 😆
No seriously, glad you’re okay and lived to tell about it. Some reactions can be lethal.
