Aussies Living Simply Members’ Guidelines
By becoming a member of ALS not only have you joined Australia’s premier online Simple and Sustainable Living community, you also have agreed to abide by the following Guidelines.
General Principles of Membership
We expect that all members of Aussies Living Simply will behave in a way that’s conducive to the diversity, intelligence and respectfulness of the community. Each of these three general principles is fundamental to the quality of our site:
We’re an online community of people, from different backgrounds and with different perspectives on life. At all times, we expect our members to respect that.
We expect our members will make a sincere effort to contribute their thoughts on interesting subjects in a meaningful and respectful manner. Posting messages and otherwise interacting on Aussies Living Simply is completely optional; many members often prefer to just read what others have to say. But if you do post, we expect that you’ll be respectful of the time of others by posting meaningfully and in context of the current article or thread.
We expect everyone to show respect for other members. Respecting the person, their views, their time, their opinions and their belief systems … even if you disagree with them.
Basic Membership Guidelines
The following examples of online conduct are unacceptable at Aussies Living Simply and constitute a violation of our Members Guidelines, which may result in warning, suspension, or loss of membership:
Harassment occurs when a member insults, attacks or denigrates another member at any time.
We have zero tolerance for taking an argument about any topic to a personal level. For instance, the use of terms such as “idiot, moron, stupid” and other derogatory terms constitutes harassment.
Our aim is to make this a pleasant environment to discuss Simple and sustainable Living; it is not a schoolyard, nor a name-calling or rock-throwing festival.
Repeated critical and sharply negative posts toward a forum member can also constitute harassment.
Online harassment, often called cyberbullying, is a serious problem on the internet and can leave victims feeling helpless and overwhelmed.
Cyberbullying is any harassment that occurs via the Internet such as vicious forum posts, name calling, posting fake profiles, making actual or implied threats and mean or cruel email messages are all ways of cyberbullying.
Aussies Living Simply has a zero-tolerance policy to bullying of any sort.
Failure to comply with this will result in the immediate suspension of the account in question.
Posts which intend to disrupt the topic of conversation or steer the topic away from the focus of the forum and related news.
Disruption can include harassment, multiple user profiles, multiple posting of the same post, posting deliberately inflammatory(aka Trolling) messages and posting completely off topic messages.
Please do your best when it comes to grammar, punctuation and spelling (and we understand that the written word is not everyone’s strong point). Excessive use of “AOL’ese” and “hAx0r” talk can be very disruptive so please keep it to a minimum.
As a community with a diverse variety of members, and at times younger readers, we ask that our members post accordingly.
Vulgarity not only includes vulgar language and pictures but also sexist, racist, anti-religious, homophobic language, etc which may offend or embarrass other members.
All selling and trading is to be done in the traders and sellers market and in no other forum.
No spamming, advertising or approaching other members in the forum or via email or PM for the purpose of selling anything.
Please report this to admins if it happens.
Spamming is the multiple posting of an identical or similar post on one or more of our Forums. Spam is also flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it.
Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products or get-rich-quick schemes. All Spam posts will be deleted and the account of the user will be banned.
You may post links to appropriate articles but posting articles from other sources in their entirety without the express permission of the Author is a violation of our Forum Guidelines and Copyright Law.
An Admin will edit such posts. If you must repost quotes or sentences, please credit the source and the author.

The Aussies Living Simply Administration Team
Administrators are people assigned the highest level of control over the entire Site.
ALS administrators are Dan, Doc and Lady B.
Geoff is also an administrator but deals with site development issues and not the day-to-day running of the forums.
Administrators oversee and participate in the forums every day; you might not always see them, but they’re here. They are available to advise members who require help with forums, photo galleries, links or starting threads.
Just contact them by PM if you need assistance.
Administrators have the right to move threads or remove posts or threads that breach the Members Guidelines, contain spam or do not fall within the subjects covered on the site.
Administrators have the right to decide what is suitable.
If you do not agree with a decision made by an administrator, do not discuss your opinion on the forums but contact the site owner, Dan.
Any posts that break this rule will be removed.
New members must make five posts before they add any links. No links of a commercial nature will be accepted.
The Admin Team.

This thread is occasionally bumped for members to see.
This may be because something may have changed in the rules or that some thread or the shoutbox is getting to the stage where members need to be reminded of the standards of etiquette to be displayed on Aussies Living Simply.
Either way, makes for a riveting read.
Any comments, feel free to PM me.
