Just wondering if I am doing something wrong or if others are having a similar problem with the automatic log out (or whatever is the technical name for that :D). I find if I am writing a longer reply I am logged out and loose my post. Might be a blond moment  or maybe there is another way that I should be preparing my posts  any help appreciated.November 21, 2011 at 8:15 pm #514518BlueWrenMember
Happens all the time with a long post or pm mauzi.I find the easiest way to avoid it is to copy your post before you submit and then , if you have been logged out , open up the thread/messages again, paste and submit.
The way I do this is to highlight my whole post ( by the mouse click ‘n drag over)when I’m done, then hit the Control key (Ctrl) ( mine is bottom left) + C key. Then hit submit. No need to unhighlight first. If your work posts , all good, you’re done.
If not, reopen where you want to post.Right click your mouse and click on paste and your post should re-appear!! Then submit.
Others may do it differently but I find that is easy and it works well.
Good luck!November 21, 2011 at 8:21 pm #514519
Thanks BlueWren, I was thinking I was doing something silly. Thanks for your explanation, will do that from now on.

I would have thought the timeout is a feature that our Site Admins could turn off? Pretty please?November 21, 2011 at 10:07 pm #514521SteveKeymaster
And if you really want to be clever…
A selects all the text (instead of dragging over it with the mouse)
C copies it (as BlueWren said)
V pastes it.
I does it all da time! 🙂November 22, 2011 at 1:36 am #514522BlueWrenMember
See, I knew there would be someone more cleverer than me……….should have known it would be Steve!!!  :tup:November 22, 2011 at 1:41 am #514523
Yep I think it is an issue with this new site, and not a nice one either admin people if you read this. :S
I have now learned to copy my posts and pms ‘just in case’ but sometimes I forget and then some of the negative energies I emit don’t do the site any good at all I should think. 👿
It certainly isn’t anything in particular that you do Mauzi.

If you’re using Firefox there’s a great little addon called “Lazarus” which recovers text for you. It’s helped me out on a number of occasions.

I am glad I am not the only one having trouble with this feature. Thanks for the replies so now I will be more prepared. Maybe admin can do something from their end. Thanks by the way to admin who do such a good job.November 22, 2011 at 8:47 pm #514528AnonymousInactive
we have tried to fix this once before 🙁 It most certainly is a timeout issue..
15minutes is the default. I’ll try and see if we can make it longer..November 22, 2011 at 8:55 pm #514529AnonymousInactive

Ok something has been done to the Inbox and Messages area.
My pm’s that I have deleted are all back and when I delete them again, they go, and then when I look at the page again they have all returned.
Either I need help or everyone needs help.
Dan are you still here? Please explain…………….
