Adding an avatar
Place the picture you want to use as your avatar (the small picture that appears in the top left corner of your posts) in a folder on your computer.
It must be a .jpg picture no bigger than 100 x 100 pixels in size and less than 30kb filesize and the name must have no spaces in it.
Log on to the ALS site and choose to edit profile
Select the avatar option
Choose your picture
Update your profile
See the final result
Hope this is useful.
Regards, Doc 😉
Hey Doc have done all that is said but still no avatar. Nada, zilch no go.
What else I am supposed to do. Have put file into the browse and hit update profile and nothing comes up.
Very keyute avatar colliegirl 😉
Bumped for people new to the site
Have tried & tried everything you said but can’t get the picture to stick. 🙁 It could possibly be a Mac thing…any suggestions?
Bunchie, I just PMed you a link to this thread before I realised that you had posted…sorry
As to the problem, what exactly are you doing. Usually people have a problem because:
1. The file is too big
2. The format is not right
3. The name of the file has spaces or other illegal characters in it.
Does not usually matter whether you use a mac or pc or use windows, Linux OS X or whatever.
Is your piccy a .jpeg?
Doc it still ain’t work’n for me.
See previous post
1. – The file is the correct size
2. – the format is right
3. – there is no illegal characters or spaces.
and yes, my picture is a .jpeg
I just don’t know, I think I’ll just give up for today and I just have to remain that special pictureless person. Oh….I so need a coffee right now.
Thanks for your help
Well I got the avatar on, but in shrinking the piccie to the right size, the pixels got too big (?) I am a complete novice with the camera/computer thing. Was it something I did wrong – or is that what happens. Shame really, its such a pretty spider.
Hi Doc how do change from ”all files” to .jpg thats why I cant get avatar in
PMed you both
if they are a .jpeg or .JPG or .JPEG
just rename them to .jpg
They are one and the same thing 🙂 confused :)
OK it took nearly 2 hours but I got it.
When I resized I had to costomise it so pic didn’t go into squares.
Hi Doc, have followed all your instructions, but it ain’t happenin’. Where did I go wrong?
