    …begins with a single step.

Our “first step” was taken today as we planted our first vegetable garden.

We’ve rigged up what we’ve dubbed The Poor Man’s Fence to keep the dog out.

This year we’re using stock sourced from rhymes with Cunnings, but have plans for Eden’s Seeds in the future.

We planted tomatoes, capsicum, leeks, beans and cucumbers. We’ve got basil, dill, oregano and italian parsley growing in mini pots. We’ve planted a tub of potatoes and tomorrow we’re transplanting the mandarin tree into a half wine barrel. Our back lawn gets quite waterlogged and the poor little tree doesn’t like wet feet.

It’s not much, but it’s a start and an enormously satisfying one.

Thats great! I cant wait to move so I can do the same.

It’s such a sense of achievement, isn’t it? Give your mandarin lots of seaweed drinks over the next couple of weeks so that it settles into its new home nicely (sorry if you knew that – just had to transplant our lemon and it’s only the seaweed that saved it, I think!)
