Just thought I’d put up a picture of a couple of beanies I’ve just finished. I mostly wanted to put them up to show you the lovely wool I got from Roogz handspun and dyed. It is the most beautiful mix of blues and purples.

Gorgeous! I just made some too! I’m sending them to my lovely cousin as a gift for her children. It is the start to that “beanie making time of the year”

Hi Jennifer not sure what info you are after, PM me.
but all from my own sheep I have whites and coloureds – hand dyed with cold water dyes and there is a little silk ( not grown by me ;)) for some bling.

Hi kerrieb – I also do beanies and brimmed hats to sell at my local market. Was recently given a HUGE amount of pure wool no longer longer wanted by a friend so have been crocheting like mad !!! Bought myself a few books so I could brush up on patters and also a cute book on crochet emblishments so I could learn how to do flowers, leaves, borders and things.
I only work on natural fibres, do some on home spun, and currently have 3 alpaca fleeces and one dyed black and natural grey to spin. Currently working in natural colours as that is all I have lol.June 3, 2010 at 4:10 am #463256
Finally got ry to upload the pics onto the comp for me.
Sarah loves her new hat – fantastic in the mornings while we are out feeding all the animals.
1/2 way through the handspun for you – should be finished by Monday.:DJune 3, 2010 at 6:04 am #463257MareeSchurmannMember

I believe there is wool from Roogz in my PO Box too, looking for good beanie patterns – would prefer a knit pattern on two needles, ribbed, with a turnup brim, but will consider crochet or round needle patterns. Size for ages 5 and 2.June 3, 2010 at 10:08 am #463259nlacMember
Those beanies are beautiful! Well done!:metal:
Knitting and crocheting are things I nver learned how to do and always wish I could do. I’d love to be able to whip up some beanies for my girls, or for me for that matter 😆
I think I’ll have to find somewhere to learn…
Love the idea of spinning wool from your own sheep Roogz…June 3, 2010 at 9:44 pm #463260GrethMember
Glad to see you showing an interest niac. Handcrafts are so forgotten these days, people get stuff from shops instead. But its fun to make something pretty with your own hands.
I used to sew and do crafts in my work tearoom. So many times people walked past and said ‘I wish I could do that, but I dont have the patience’
I dont need patience to do handcrafts, I might need it to stay away from them. Its exciting and fulfilling, I would need patience to read the boring soapy stories from the magazines they were reading.
