Just wondering if it is possible to have a 3 phase system setup with solar or wind powered systems. Is something different required? Massive inverters? Batteries? etc etc.
Whatcha need 3 phase for, elliceh?
You can buy a 230 volt AC single phase to 3-phase converter. A company called Polyphaz sells them. Not sure what the technical implications would be for grid-connect solar, but I guess you could do it on a stand alone system.
…..to supercharge her electric car post peak oil collapse, so she can still do burnouts.
😆 @ SteveJ.
To Elliceh, I have no idea. I’m on a stand alone system. Didn’t think one could have 3-phase but guess one could if the system was large enough. Think outback property, huge equipment, massive generators. 😐 😆
Time, methinks, to ring a solar company or three and ask some questions. Let us know what you find out.
too run a welder perhaps?
I think the conversion generator would work, but it’s the initial battery storage I am wondering about??? Solar wouldnt produce enough direct current, and wind turbines ‘wild AC’ would be too erratic?? Hmmm…love to hear how this one is solved!!!!
LMAO Steve, your dead on the money!! I’ll have the quickest solar/electric car around dont you worry!!
Nah DH does alot of stainless steel welding and folding and cutting for his work, we are just going through ideas for sustainable energy if we move further out of town so he can keep working from home. That is one of the main requirements for him as well as a massive shed 😆
Same here Ellice, we were wondering about 3 phase due to Hub’s work involving Stainless and timber. We were advised to send all our Solar generated power to the grid and then use 3 phase from the grid, which you have to get connected if not already….not that we have done that but that was the advice from a local Solar contractor.:D I hope that makes sense?
Did you mob go to the same photographer for your avatar pictures by any chance???? or is that family pose a standard? Perhaps your all related?
No, no and no Steve lol. I actually took our pic…. but yeah – i see what you mean. Im probably due for a new pic anyway. I’ll do that now!!
Yeah Ellice, i think its the typical family pose when you take the pic yourself so everyone can be in it…i liked yours too, very nice. pity you changed it. love pics with the family in………
Now my post makes me sound like a goose:awch:
or a goat
