TOPIC: Sweating in the Tropics (& the accompanying skin break-outs!)

Sweating in the Tropics (& the accompanying skin break-outs!) 6 years 2 months ago #46510

I'm after some home remedies for annoying pimples. When living in SE Qld I'd got about three pimples per year, mostly due to having dry sensitive skin I suppose - I don't have oily problem areas on my face. But I've been up here for 14 months now and I spend the best part of the year sweating so much (on my face) that I have almost permanent clusters of little pimples on each temple and some across my forehead. It's rare that they get heads on them even - they are just caused by the sweating.

I have been using a Miessence cleanser and scrub which are both wonderful but I don't think either of them address the problem really. Infact the scrub says not to use on pimples incase you spread infection but I don't think mine are the infected type... Is that a stupid idea? I have the cleanser made for dry skin because that is what I have and I don't think trying the one for oily problem skin is the solution when I am so sensitive. So I wondered if anybody has any homemade recipes for something that can address the problem. Surely a few of you have experienced this :(

Could it be from your hair Deb? I mean, when we sweat on our faces, we tend to sweat on the upper lip more than anywhere and you don't describe getting pimples there! LOL Generally, the summer pimples are from stuff touching the face - hands and hair especially. And if you're inclined to wipe the sweat, or sweep the sticky hair off your face with your bare, unwashed hands you're introducing germs to the skin that can cause breakouts.

So my advice would be to do what the Japanese do and wipe with a clean hankerchief or face washer instead and to keep your hair well off your face when you're working at home.

Hi Deborah, sorry I don't have a solution for you, I just wanted to sympathise! I have very oily skin so the humidity on the coast even this far south (!) is enough for me to get sweat pimples in summer :noapprove: They aren't the normal acne-type pimples as you said, just little pimply things in clusters - very annoying! I hope you find a solution...

Julie, I wish they had heads then I could squeeze them and fill them with something antibacterial :lol::lol:

Jodie, when I'm home I always have a headband on to keep my very long fringe from annoying me and because they house is very still inside and extremely hot in the last few months so I do sweat at home. For this reason my hair is always tied back at home. I often try to start the day with it down but it's too hot on my neck by 9:30am! So at home it is all pulled well back on off me. Furthermore it's washed with organic shampoo and conditioner so there's unlikely to be anything annoying in it. I actually don't seem to sweat that much above my lip though I've had the odd little pimple there this summer but not like these clusters.

I'm sure that my new exercise craze is the biggest contributing factor as I never had this trouble last summer when I was new here and far from aclimatised (not that I have that sorted yet...). Since late August I've been exercising myself in to a very sweaty heap for at least one hour every week, sometimes 5-6 hours. This is pretty unusal for me ;) so I'm spending a lot more time sweating than usual and the dry skin is in shock!

I need a homemade scrub or something that can help with these annoying lumps.
