Tully, I was kidding about the drivers - hence the smiley

The mobility stat comes from my wife who worked as an actuarial researcher. Note that it is not a causal link (becoming immobile has not been shown to _cause_ median death in 1.5 years), only statistical (in general, with no extra information, being immobile will result in half the people dying in 1.5 years). As interventions are either hard (make immobile people mobilise) or unethical (immobilise healthy people) we haven't got a true causal model yet.
