Aussies Living Simply Members' Guidelines

By becoming a member of ALS not only have you joined Australia's premier online Simple and Sustainable Living community, you also have agreed to abide by the following Guidelines.

General Principles of Membership
We expect that all members of Aussies Living Simply will behave in a way that’s conducive to the diversity, intelligence and respectfulness of the community. Each of these three general principles is fundamental to the quality of our site:

Diversity
We’re an online community of people, from different backgrounds and with different perspectives on life. At all times, we expect our members to respect that.

Intelligence
We expect our members will make a sincere effort to contribute their thoughts on interesting subjects in a meaningful and respectful manner. Posting messages and otherwise interacting on Aussies Living Simply is completely optional; many members often prefer to just read what others have to say. But if you do post, we expect that you’ll be respectful of the time of others by posting meaningfully and in context of the current article or thread.

Respect
We expect everyone to show respect for other members. Respecting the person, their views, their time, their opinions and their belief systems ... even if you disagree with them.

Basic Membership Guidelines
The following examples of online conduct are unacceptable at Aussies Living Simply and constitute a violation of our Members Guidelines, which may result in warning, suspension, or loss of membership:

Harassment
Harassment occurs when a member insults, attacks or denigrates another member at any time. We have zero tolerance for taking an argument about any topic to a personal level. For instance, the use of terms such as "idiot, moron, stupid" and other derogatory terms constitutes harassment. Our aim is to make this a pleasant environment to discuss Simple and sustainable Living; it is not a schoolyard, nor a name-calling or rock-throwing festival. Repeated critical and sharply negative posts toward a forum member can also constitute harassment.

Disruption
Posts which intend to disrupt the topic of conversation or steer the topic away from the focus of the forum and related news. Disruption can include harassment, multiple user profiles, multiple posting of the same post, posting deliberately inflammatory(aka Trolling) messages and posting completely off topic messages. Please do your best when it comes to grammar, punctuation and spelling (and we understand that the written word is not everyone’s strong point). Excessive use of "AOL'ese" and "hAx0r" talk can be very disruptive so please keep it to a minimum.

Vulgarity
As a community with a diverse variety of members, and at times younger readers, we ask that our members post accordingly. Vulgarity not only includes vulgar language and pictures but also sexist, racist, anti-religious, homophobic language, ect which may offend or embarrass other members.

Advertising
All selling and trading is to be done in the traders and sellers market and in no other forum. No spamming, advertising or approaching other members in the forum or via email or PM for the purpose of selling anything. Please report this to admins if it happens.

Spamming is the multiple posting of an identical or similar post on one or more of our Forums. Spam is also flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products or get-rich-quick schemes. All Spam posts will be deleted and the account of the user will be banned.

Copyrighted Material
You may post links to appropriate articles but posting articles from other sources in their entirety without the express permission of the Author is a violation of our Forum Guidelines and Copyright Law. An Admin will edit such posts. If you must repost quotes or sentences, please credit the source and the author.

Submissions to Aussies Living Simply
When you submit Blog Entries, Article Submissions, Forum Posts, or any other contribution to the Aussies Living Simply website you agree to share copyright with Aussies Living Simply for that submitted material on this website. Authors retain copyright of their material, however they acknowledge Aussies Living Simply's right to retain or delete submissions at the discretion of the Admin Team.

While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

The Aussies Living Simply Administration Team
Administrators are people assigned the highest level of control over the entire Site. ALS administrators are baldcat, Doc, Franceyne and Scarecrow. Geoff is also an administrator but deals with site development issues and not the day-to-day running of the forums. Administrators oversee and participate in the forums every day, you might not always see them, but they’re here. They are available to advise members who require help with forums, photo galleries, links or starting threads. Just contact them by PM if you need assistance.

Administrators have the right to move threads or remove posts or threads that breach the Members Guidelines, contain spam or do not fall within the subjects covered on the site. Administrators have the right to decide what is suitable. If you do not agree with a decision made by an administrator, do not discuss your opinion on the forums but contact the site owner, baldcat. Any posts that break this rule will be removed.

New members must make five posts before they add any links. No links of a commercial nature will be accepted.

The Admin Team.
