Something is eating my roses!

Carefull inspection found lots of beetles on the plants.
These are about 1/4" long, bronze coloured, hard wings and drop off the plant at movement.
I have squashed as many as I can but there are an awful lot of them.

They are not something I have come across before.
Has any one any idea as to what they are and how to get rid of them PLEASE!

I can't help you caddie but someone else surely can. Have you googled 'roses pests' or something like that?

Good luck.

You know, when you think about it, if everyone in the world was kind to the person next to her/him then that would be the end of wars and such and we could all concentrate on healing the earth.

Note my brain is not working ..... does anyone have some brain cells that are working
But I know the beetle you are talking about I get them on the fig trees here I can't remember the name of them but if there lots I use pyrethrum spray late in the day cause it will kill bees, if just a few I use a shallow dish with soapy water placed carefully under the leaf they are on and knock them into the water.

This may sound a little odd but spray them with fly spray. Once they are all dead if you are worried about other insects dying hose the plant. Did it with my lemon tree when it was inundated with bugs, and needed a quick fix.

Stand back in case they take off also.

Thank you for suggestions.
I will give them a go, it has been rainig here overnight so perhaps I should wait till it is dry again.

I dont like the sound of them in the fig tree!!!!!
I have just planted a white adriatic.
so far I have put in 3 grapes, a passionfruit, 2 pears, 3 apples,a mulberry and a peach.
I brought with me a cumquat and navel orange but there are 8 citrus allready hear just need to see what I have.
will add a nectarine and apricot as I come across them.

They haven't started eating the fig leaves yet this year
