I've just taken delivery of a huge box of goodies for brewing.
Enough for 7 brews! For about $245 including postage of $21 from Sydney! About $35 per brew. There's 500 ml of Iodophor in that cost too.
They consist of a tin of extract, a kilo of dried malt of various descriptions and what's called an "infusion pack". About 220 g of grain and some hops. It's apparently as easy as making a cup of tea.
I've got a couple of English Bitter, a couple of Stout, a Canadian Light, a Pilsner and a Wheat.
Going to start off with the Canadian Light, 500g light malt extract, a pilsner and pale lager infusion pack and use a Saflager S-23 yeast.
This will actually be my first foray into a light coloured beer after my initial Coopers Lager that came with the fermenter. All my others have been dark ales and stouts. Oh I did a wheat beer a while back too.
If anyone wants a good mail order home brew site, I'd highly recommend
www.bmbrews.com.au/index.php/home. Pat Casey is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and a very decent bloke!
Postage was $21.20 for about 21 kilograms. Pat posted the stuff to me on Tuesday and it arrived yesterday. Pretty good going, I think. A brewshop in south australia that I'd used reckons it costs $30 to send 3 brews and it took almost 2 weeks to get here.
I know who I'll be going back to!
